“Amaktoolik is a family name from the village of Golovin, Alaska. Golovin was originally known as ‘Chinik,’ an Inupiat village. I grew up spending many summers in Golovin fishing, hunting and learning from my Inupiat family lifestyle. Amaktoolik Studio’s logo honors my ancestry in a contemporary fun way—an interpretation of another indigenous character, the walrus.”
